![]() ![]() The reality of the ban is something a bit more alarming, something everyone both inside and outside the sex worker community should be concerned about: It is sweeping censorship on a site used by queer people everywhere and is part of a censorship trend that is disproportionately erasing queer people.ĭon't lose hope - there are other digital sanctuaries. Tumblr's ban is more than a crackdown on sex work - indeed, the stated reason for it has little to do with FOSTA/SESTA, at least on the surface (child pornography has been found on the site more than once). The unsettling phrase "sex panic" rings truer and truer. Many queer sex workers - myself included - view the ban as the latest bullet point in a disturbing string of events that include the passing of FOSTA/SESTA and the federal seizure and shutdown of, a site popularly used by sex workers to find clients. Tumblr was more than the best porn on the internet - it was a place where many of us discovered ourselves, discovered our interests, and found others. "y'all" is a pronoun which, being a pronoun, can take the place of a noun in a certain context. however, if you did hypothetically use "chat" as a neopronoun, it would be third person, and this isn't even remotely similar to the use case being described as a "fourth person pronoun" by the post I'm talking about.Ī: that's a case, not a part of speech. are you saying I can't do that?Ī: no, obviously you can do whatever you want. Q: well maybe I do use "chat" as a pronoun. if people were actually using "chat" as a pronoun I wouldn't have a problem with someone describing it as a pronoun, because it would be a pronoun. Q: are you trying to police how people use words?Ī: no, I'm describing the ways words are used. Q: language is fluid, so if enough people use "chat" as a pronoun wouldn't that mean it is a pronoun?Ī: yes, but people don't use it as a pronoun so it isn't one. most unpleasant people aren’t inherently rotten, they’re just unhappy & coping with it poorlyĪssume people are always doing their best, even if their best happens to fall a bit short. she’s not my favorite patron, but she’s perfectly okay.
